Nestled in the heart of Mattancherry in Kochi, Kerala, stands the Jew Synagogue, also known as the Paradesi Synagogue, as a testament to the rich Jewish heritage in Kerala. It is the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth, established by the Spanish-speaking Jews, Paradesi Jews. Constructed in 1568, the Mattancherry Jewish Synagogue represents the zenith of the Jewish community's influence, which has gradually waned over the centuries. Renowned for its captivating architecture, the synagogue boasts Belgian glass chandeliers, hand-painted Chinese tiles in blue and white hues, and a meticulously crafted gold pulpit.
